It’s difficult to put into words the loss loss of my great friend Pete, also the laughs that we had over the last forty plus years that we had known each other.
The last time we met up was October 2019. The two days that we had were of making plans of various things that we could do in 2020, one of which was to purchase a camper van and tour England. But as you know Covid had different plans.
We stayed in touch by phone, Pete’s health meant it wasn’t possible to meet again.
The phone calls were always a laugh and we usually put the world to right.
I miss our fortnightly calls and it’s sad o think Pete’s no longer here anymore.

Peter was my cousin & we often played together as children. I remember getting the no. 102 bus from Clacton to Brightlingsea & I loved the time spent at the bungalow in Regents Close. Peter loved my dolls & dolls pram as a little boy & I loved his cars & I also loved the cakes that his Mum, my Aunty Nell, used to bake. I clearly remember Peter taking part in the Brightlingsea carnival it must be over 60 years ago. He was in a small wooden train & was entered as ‘ The last train to Brightlingsea’ just as the trains to Brightlingsea were axed. We used to spend hours on Clacton Pier in the summer holidays with our Nanna Gurling, spending the pennies in the slot machines that she had saved for us all year. Happy childhood memories.
